The Church of St John the Evangelist

Let’s get the important stuff done first: You are welcome at our little church! Now the boring stuff: The building has been here for about 900 years. It is small, cosy and peaceful. It’s partially hidden behind the village hall, but don’t let that put you off.

We are part of a larger benefice that include three surrounding villages. Because we all share one priest, we are not able to have a service every Sunday.

However. our village based Lay Preacher, Jean Rocket, conducts family services regularly, as well. In September Jean was officially licensed at a service in Norwich Cathederal.

Visit the church

And the ongoing stuff: We try to have the church open every day; you‘re welcome to come a visit, commune with God, or just to come for some private contemplation and
peace and quiet. These walls have absorbed a lot of worship, praise and prayer over the centuries, and it feels good. The Rev. Jane Atkins is our vicar,

We have a Parish Church Council and an amazing team of villagers who look after the churchyard and the building. Recently completed projects include rewiring and heating the church.

Heritahege lottery fund

The Church is in the process of proceeding with a Heritage Lottery Grant. You can see details of this and its progress here.
